What is Concurrent Enrollment?

Students who are concurrently enrolled are simultaneously attending their education program while earning credits at Butte College that can be used to fulfill high school and college certificate, transfer, or graduation requirements. Enrollment and service fees are waived; however, course material fees and textbooks are not waived.

Why should I concurrently enroll?

Concurrent enrollment is an amazing opportunity for you to earn college credits early while saving money – yes, your tuition is free! It allows you to explore new subjects, kickstart your college journey, and explore potential career paths – all with flexible scheduling to suit your needs. So, why wait? Who can participate? 

Any student that is currently:

    • Enrolled in high school (or lower grade)
    • Pursing a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Attending a noncredit or adult education program

How do I apply?

  • Step 1: Explore Your Options. Talk to your parent/guardian, high school counselor/principal, or adult education manager to see if this program is right for you and your goals.
  • Step 2: Apply Online. Apply online through CCC Apply. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to apply here. You will need your Butte College Student ID to complete the next steps.
  • Step 3: Select Your Courses. Consult with your school counselor/principal or adult education manager to choose your courses. Consider selecting alternate courses in case your first choices are full. Keep this in mind:
    • Prerequisites: Some courses require prerequisites to ensure you’re ready for the course content. You can check prerequisites here. If you are selecting a course with prerequisites, submit a transcript showing you meet the prerequisites and complete the Petition to Challenge Prerequisite form. Submit your transcripts and complete petition form with your permission form below.
  • Step 4: Submit Permission Form. Complete the Concurrent Enrollment Permission Form (Fillable Form or Printable Form) thoroughly and with all required signatures. Submit final form to schoolrelations@goudounet.com by the deadline:
    • Winter 2024 Intersession: November 30, 2023
    • Spring 2024 Semester: January 9, 2024
    • Fall 2024 Semester: TBA

What happens next?

  • Register for Classes. Check the here for your registration date and time. Register online via Butte College’s online http://goudounet.com/portal/ for approved courses listed on your permission form. Remember, the following unit limits:
    • Fall/Spring Terms: 11 units maximum
    • Summer Term: 10 units maximum
    • Winter Term: 4 units maximum
  • Attend Class. It’s time to attend your classes! Make sure to follow college rules and adhere to the Butte College academic calendar.
  • Get Your Transcripts. At the conclusion of the course, official transcripts will be sent to your school for evaluation. If you need transcripts for personal use, complete a Transcript Request Form.
